Tuna Spaghetti Recipe

Being confined in the hospital for almost a week made me realize I should be taking care of my own body in a more vigilant way. I have always been conscious about what I eat, my number of hour's sleep, and all those stuff. But right now I want to take all this to another level. Thinking of more healthy alternatives for the foods that I like to eat is one way.

Here is my most delicious tuna spaghetti recipe which you too can try.

1/2 kg pasta
3 small cans of tuna flakes in oil
1/2 kg fresh tomatoes
Onions
Garlic

See how mouth watering. I really love the taste of celery in my spaghetti so I chopped a few leaves and sprinkled it as my alternative to cheese. There is nothing more comforting about the food that we eat knowing that it will not just satisfy our cravings but most importantly it will nourish us and boost our health. Imagine this simple tuna spaghetti recipe with the same goodness of the usual spaghetti minus the cream, milk, cheese, meat, sausage and hotdog. These ingredients have so much calories and whatnot and you could just imagine what it can do to your body. For me it takes a lot of discipline to be thinking about alternatives all the time. But I guess the reason for this self-imposed discipline is pretty simple. You are what you eat.

Wonders of Baking Soda

I've been using baking soda with my toothpaste for many years now. It doesn't just serve as a cleanser, whitener, it is also antibacterial, so it's a great alternative to mouthwash. I read somewhere you can also use it in cleaning vegetables to wash away harmful chemicals before preparing your meal. Most of the ones you buy from the supermarket, are made from baking soda anyway, so you can certainly make your own at home. All you need is at least 2 cups of tap water, a few tablespoon of baking soda, mix them in a bowl where you can scrub your vegies away.

How Do You Pouch It?

I just recently learned I can actually enjoy eggs for my breakfast every morning without feeling guilty of consuming oil on a regular basis. Pouching is a lot healthier than simply frying your eggs, for obvious reasons. It's the oil, darling, it's the oil, no need to mention actually. When I learned how to do this, I was so thrilled I had pouched eggs every morning for my breakfast. Well, actually I cannot survive a day without eggs with my breakfast. So pouching is really something that has taken away every bit of guilt in me, just thinking about the oil intake every morning.

Make it happen

philippines

I can see it happening. A nice house in the middle of the forest farm, cool breeze, no need for any air-conditioner whatsoever, fresh vegetables, fruits, organic chicken and pork meat, a little ranch, flower farm, there is just so much to do in a 30-hectare property. I promise God he will not be disappointed for giving me this blessing. I can't wait for my 2-decade job to be over. Not that I do not treasure it, I do in so many ways. It's just that right now, I guess it's time to move on to the next chapter, where I will be better, wiser, braver.

There is too much toxicity in city life. The noise, the haste, the pollution, the demands of a busy schedule, all these have been taking the better of me, even the capacity to connect. People do not know each other anymore. Everyone go about their days like robots or grumpy old men. I do not want that kind of life. I've had enough of it. It is in my hands, the power to make things happen, lies on my energy, my will, my decision to do it. I cannot just expect God to shower all these things to me. I have to take my part. And most of all, this has to become an advocacy, so that others, too may live.

Sayote/Chayote is a Remedy for High Blood Pressure

Both of my parents have high blood pressure. My grandfather from my father's side died of heart attack. Even I, at an early age already struggled with high blood pressure, causing my doctor to recommend maintenance medicine for it. Many were a bit shocked to know I have already been maintaining something to  tone down my blood pressure. My own brother had to be rushed to the ER a few years back, that time he was 33, imagine how young, due to very high blood pressure. Initially it made me feel so frustrated, I felt greatly oppressed. As much as I can, I avoid stress as it's the number one cause of it. Some other things, (for some these can be the major cause) like bad diet, lack of sleep, lack of exercise. As for me, my doctors after thorough examinations that the culprit is stress. I am dedicated with my fitness exercises, I eat healthy, I make sure I sleep 7-8 hours a day. But still the PRESSURE is UP.

A few weeks back, my brother discovered some herbal remedy for it. I'm so excited to share it here with you. All you need is one sayote, one cocumber, one ampalaya, all with the same size. Hit them all in your juicer and viola!

My brother's blood pressure has dramatically gone down, his migraines gone.

7 Tips for Staying Fit Through the Holidays

"Stick to a Routine as Best You Can" I think this is the most important of all in this list. Of course we cannot really help but eat during celebrations. Sticking to a routine is really challenging. It requires a lot of discipline maintaining this balance.

Web-based fitness gurus Katrina Hodgson and Karena Dawn of "Tone It Up" will premiere a new show on Bravo in 2014.

With so many holiday events revolving around food and cocktails, it's easy to add on the extra pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. But that doesn't have to be the rule.
Katrina Hodgson and Karena Dawn, hosts of "Toned Up," a new fitness series premiering on Bravo on Jan. 2, 2014, shared with ABC News some of their best strategies for balancing the season's indulgences with healthy choices.
1. Stick to a Routine as Best You Can. "Having a solid plan in place, even if you veer off track a little, is a great strategy to stay healthy through the season," said Hodgson. "Get active at least four times a week, and include protein with your breakfast — both will give your metabolism a boost that lasts all day. We love making pancakes for breakfast with Perfect Fit Protein instead of flour. They're fluffy, delicious and filled with the nutrients your body needs."
2. Exercise in the Morning. "Moving your body first thing in the morning sets the day right and helps your body stay stress-free during this busy season," Dawn told ABC News. "Plus, getting your workout done and out of the way early in the day ensures nothing comes between you and your fitness goals. A quick, 15-minute toning routine or walk will make a huge difference in your energy levels for the day. We call this our BootyCall, and we fit one in almost every morning."
3. Find Balance. Remember this time of year is all about enjoying yourself with friends and family. "Definitely don't deprive yourself of the things you love most about the season," said Hodgson. "Just be sure to stay on track during the days before and after the party. When you stick to a healthy lifestyle and stay consistent, you have wiggle room for a little indulgence here and there."
4. Bring Healthy Treats to the Party. "The minute someone invites you to a gathering, offer to bring a dish," Hodgson went on. "While this may not be an option for every gathering, it's always worth offering. This way you know the menu will include at least one waist-friendly dish." She also notes that it's easy to make healthy swaps when baking, such as using coconut oil instead of butter, natural sugars or stevia instead of sugar, and flour alternatives such as quinoa or almond flour. More examples are available on their fitness community site,Tone It Up.
5. Eat! "Don't make the mistake of not eating all day when you have a dinner party or event that night," said Dawn. Instead, stick to small, nutrient-dense meals throughout the day, including greens, lean protein, fruit and a bit of healthy fats. "This ensures you get the fuel you need without going overboard come dinnertime," she said. "The same thing goes for skipping meals the day after the event if you had a few too many treats. Don't do it! If you overindulged, don't stress about it. Let go of any negative feelings, move on and just make healthier choices next time. Oh, and do a full body workout the next day."
6. Drink up ... on the Right Things. "If your body is dehydrated it literally cannot function, and it increases cravings too," Dawn told ABC News. "It's easy to forget to drink the water your body needs with all the holiday bustle, and particularly when the weather outside is chilly. But your body needs half its body weight in ounces daily -- if you weigh 150 pounds, get at least 75 ounces of water each day."
7. Start a New Tradition. Memorable moments are part of what make the holidays special, and the season offers a chance to create something new to look forward to each year, suggests the duo. "Whether you rally your friends to run a local 3K race, take your family for a neighborhood stroll after dinner or come up with your own signature dish, this is your chance to reinvent what this time of year means for you," said Hodgson.

The wonders of Calamansi

I heard from someone sharing about the wonders of Calamansi, especially it losing weight powers. I am still not too sure if I can manage to do it, especially when it requires squeezing its juices out and drinking without water or any sugar to at least sweeten it.

But many years ago I have this talk with my herbalist doctor and he told me drinking a glass of Calamansi juice 30 minutes before breakfast has a lot of benefits for our body. And that is what I have been doing the past weeks. The results are amazing. You have energy for the entire day, sometimes if you wake up with a headache, this amazing regimen will quickly shoo the headache away.

This video below is about how to use Calamansi for your beauty regimen. And yes, I have tried calamansi on my face, it erases blemishes and wrinkles in the long run. You can also try it on your problem areas like armpits etc *wink*

THIS ARTICLE IS ALSO HELPFUL:

What are the tricks to make work to the slimmer you? First, start the day by drinking 8 ounce of hot water with Calamansi. Squeeze a half of the Calamansi into the hot water, put 1 teaspoon of Calamansi zest and zip it slowly. Calamansi and hot water speeds the elimination of toxins that stores fat. Second is to alternate hot water and cold water throughout the day. The hot water will flush the toxins away from your intestines while the cold water keeps the calorie to burn high. You can drink hot water with Calamansi and then drink a glass of cold water, repeat this twice at non-meal times. The third step is to drink lukewarm water before meals and snacks, Drink them 15 minutes before you eat because it shuts down your craving to food therefore allowing you to only eat a few calories.

This is a modified version of the Master Cleanse Diet, where you’re supposed to replace each meal with a glass of fresh lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper mixed in 80z of water.
The citric acid in the lemon/calamansi is supposed to help curb your appetite. So you might lose weight while you’re on the diet, but once you go back to eating regular food you’ll regain the lost weight in a flash. (source: http://angelzero01.wordpress.com/2012/01/19/calamansi-for-weight-loss/)
